[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Die Sitten rund um Weihnachten waren nicht immer gleich mit denen, so wir sie heute kennen. Dass es zu den Weihnachtstagen nicht immer besinnlich und ruhig zuging, dar\u00fcber erz\u00e4hlen viele Schilderungen aus dem barocken Wien.<\/p>\n

Barockes Wien<\/strong><\/p>\n

Die l\u00e4ngste Zeit stand die Christmette im Mittelpunkt des Weihnachtsfestes. Rund um die Mette bildeten sich verschiedene volkst\u00fcmliche Unterhaltungen.\u00a0 Es\u00a0 wurden aufw\u00e4ndige Krippen in Kirchen aufgestellt, diese hatten oft eindrucksvolle Ausma\u00dfe und waren mit mechanischen Spielereien versehen. Auch die Christmette selbst konnte laut und unterhaltsam sein, da popul\u00e4re Opern musikalisch eingebaut wurden und man so mit Erfolg versuchte, die Bev\u00f6lkerung in die Kirchen zu locken.<\/p>\n

Erste Christkindlm\u00e4rkte<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seit dem 18. Jahrhundert wurde es auch \u00fcblich, dass rund um die Kirchen in St\u00e4nden Krippenfiguren und Christkindln, \u00c4pfel und N\u00fcsse, aber auch\u00a0 Kinderspielzeug angeboten wurde. Die ersten Christkindlm\u00e4rkte waren geboren. Die erste Erw\u00e4hnung in Wien eines “Nikolaus-, Weihnachts- und Krippenmarkt” geht auf die Freyung im Jahre 1722 zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n

Heutzutage ist das wichtigste Symbol des Heiligen Abend ein festlich geschm\u00fcckter Christbaum. Dieser Brauch geht in die Biedermeierzeit zur\u00fcck, wo in Wien der erste Christbaum aufgetaucht ist. Dass sich diese Tradition im Bereich der Habsburgermonarchie verfestig hat, ist auch den Habsburgern zu verdanken.<\/p>\n

Biedermeierzeit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Im Jahre 1814 ist in Berichten der Metternich\u2019schen Staatspolizei erstmals von einem Christbaumfest im Salon der j\u00fcdischen Bankiersfamilie Arnstein zu lesen, an dem die Anwesenden reichlich mit Geschenken bedacht wurden, was damals in Wien am Heiligen Abend un\u00fcblich war. Die Frau des Hauses, Fanny von Arnstein, stammte aus Berlin und brachte diesen Brauch aus ihrer Heimat\u00a0mit.<\/p>\n

Der Christbaum<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seinen schnellen Triumphzug in die Wohnzimmer des B\u00fcrgertums begann der Christbaum jedoch im Umfeld des Wiener Hofes. Die aus einer helvetisch-protestantischen Familie stammende Gattin Erzherzog Karls, Henriette von Nassau-Weilburg, brachte diesen norddeutschen Brauch an den Wiener Hof. Zu Weihnachten des Jahres 1816 erstrahlte im Hause Habsburg erstmals ein Christbaum. An dieser Weihnachtsfeier nahm auch Kaiser Franz I. teil, der vom Zauber des Christbaumes derart beeindruckt war, dass er den Auftrag gab, in Zukunft auch in der Hofburg einen Christbaum aufzustellen. In der Folge wurde es auch in katholischen Haushalten \u00fcblich, das Weihnachtsfest unter dem Christbaum zu begehen: war es 1821 laut Berichten noch nahezu unm\u00f6glich in Wien einen Christbaum zu bekommen, so gab es ab 1829 bereits Christbaumverk\u00e4ufer beim Schottentor, und 1851 soll der Platz Am Hof in der Vorweihnachtszeit bereits einem Wald geglichen haben.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
